Don’t they say that age is above all in the head ❓
Yes, the way we see life... our life... can change the way we age 💫.
I have lots of things to tell you 📝📝📝, so let’s get straight to the heart of the matter with two experiences that will certainly put our little gray cells to work 🤯 and give us food for thought about AGING.
I often talk to you about heart 🫀 /brain 🧠 coherence, the importance of the heart ❤️, its intelligence and the benefits of elevated emotions, those which carry us and transport us 😌.
Because everything is not just a question of genetics and DNA inherited from our parents, far from it ‼️
You may have heard of epigenetics, the term meaning “above” (epi) genetics. We all have a genetic heritage at birth, but our genes 🧬 can be expressed... or not... depending on our environment. Epigenetics is therefore the study of the influence of the environment on the expression of our genes 🧬🧬🧬. The external environment, but also our internal environment and this begins with the emotions that we feel and cultivate on a daily basis.
As such, the HeartMath institute in California, among numerous publications studying the effect of positive emotions on our health, carried out a study whose results demonstrated that cardiac coherence 〰️〰️〰️ (see my article on breathing: tip n19) associated with positive emotions and intentions 😃 had a beneficial effect on the structure of the strands of our DNA 🧬.
Feeling beautiful emotions 😁 has many other benefits because emotion means production of chemical substances by our body. These precious molecules are real elixirs which prove to be very beneficial 👍 for our health and therefore for our beautiful longevity.
Let us say it right away: the idea is not to promote 'happiness at all costs', we know that there are days with it and days without 🤷♀️, but it is certain that taking care of our thoughts, our emotions, our state of being is a first step 👣... and it is important... to feel more fast and become so 💃🕺!
Another very interesting experiment is that of psychologist Ellen Langer and her colleagues at Harvard. They offered a group of men aged 70 to 80 👴, who were not in the best of shape 😬, crippled by pain 😩 and limited in their mobility 👨, to live an experience that was surprising to say the least 😳.
For a week these people were isolated from the rest of the world in a place in the countryside for a fabulous journey through time ⏳. Indeed, the researchers completely modified their living environment, as if time had stopped 20 years previously. Newspapers 📰, music 🎶, objects 📻, posters 🖼️, furniture 🛋️, TV shows 📺, food 🥘 and even the photo on their ID card, everything was changed and participants were instructed to behave as if they had 20 years younger ✌️.
Several measurements were taken before and after the experience which I remind you only lasted a week, a very short week : state of health, weight, IQ, length of limbs, hearing, eyesight, weight, before and after photo, etc.
Compared to the control group, the results were extraordinary 😲: better mobility and muscular strength, improvement in vision, hearing and even IQ, reduction in blood pressure, facial change... almost all the participants had become younger!!️
Our thoughts, beliefs, behaviors and emotions shape, distort and transform us.
Being aware of their power to change what needs to be changed undoubtedly has an impact on the way we age.
Yes, it’s not because we’re getting older that we necessarily have to have joint pain 🙄 … just one example among many 😉.
To finish my long tip 😆 … I even decided to cut some text 🙈 which caused a huge frustration 😅 … if you have Netflix, I strongly advise you to watch the mini-series '100 years of fullness: the secrets of the blue zones'.
The blue zones are those places on the planet 🌍🌎🌏 where longevity and the number of centenarians are exceptional 🤩.
But what are their secrets ❓
It seems so simple, and yet...
👉 They don't necessarily play sports but they walk, move and cultivate their vegetable garden or maintain their garden.
👉 They put rituals in place to unwind from their day and stress.
👉 They are active, their life has meaning and they have a reason to get up in the morning.
👉 Their diet is largely plant-based and they stop eating before they are full.
👉 But... the most important factor of all, the one that accounts for 50% of this eternal youth is the social bond: family, friends and mutual aid 🤗.
What we can learn from this information is that if we want to age well we need to nourish and open our heart 💝, to modify our limiting beliefs 💭, to move our body 👣👣👣 which carries us and supports us 😉, to ourselves pose to rest 😌, to find one... or more meaning to our life 🤔, to give good fuel to our body 🥗 and above all to live in the world and in connection with humans.
All of the above involves living consciously: this is the path and the key 🗝️.
And since it seems that time does not exist ♾️ … are we not all eternal ❓❓❓
Come on, I'm done for today 😅 ... I would love to discuss this with you in person 🗣️ ... and in the meantime, I'm sending you a huge ✨✨✨ YUM Life ✨✨✨ and I'll tell you in 15 days 😘.
