Tip n°35 : Travels

Updated: Oct 25, 2023

I just finished reading 📖 the book “Provoque ta chance!” » by Christophe Haag, and this motivated a change of schedule regarding the theme that I wanted to discuss with you today 😉. 👉 Today we are going to talk about 🎒 TRAVELS 🎒 and their benefits for our health, especially that of our brain 🧠. The following few paragraphs are directly taken from this very interesting book 🧐.

I believe that breathing another air helps to ventilate the room, I am talking here about our brain, which has this unfortunate tendency to ruminate on the negative, which gives a musty smell to our vision of the world. Science shows that traveling frequently is very good for your health. According to some neuroscientists, traveling regularly and to different places could even prevent Alzheimer's disease. The hypothesis put forward by the researchers is that the traveler who is exposed to a new and sometimes complex environment (language barrier, different culture, unusual transport functioning, etc.) will boost his cerebral plasticity, in other words partially remodel his brain. New connections within the brain matter will form.

New experiences will force you to make sense of new stimuli. This triggers the production of new dendrites – the branching extensions of neuron cell bodies whose role is to facilitate the transmission of information between different brain regions. In short, the greater your number of functional dendrites, the better your brain will perform. This helps maintain cognitive functions such as memory and attention. This brain 'gym' is essential to fight against the apathy and laziness on which the disease feeds.

Traveling involves effort, including before departure (packing your suitcase, thinking about what you want to take, reserving your means of transport, etc.). But we are all more or less genetically programmed to be big lazy people. The fault is ancestral genes which push us to save our energy expenditure and which, in my opinion, facilitate brain aging. So, if we want to live longer and in better health, we must do violence to fight against this natural tendency by further activating our cortex. However, travel is undoubtedly the most acceptable and pleasant form of violence available to us. By traveling, you train your brain to remain open to new experiences, one of the key factors of luck.

🙌 BUT, you might say, not everyone has the opportunity to travel ❓❓❓ Absolutely 😉, no need to go to the ends of the earth ✈️. The main idea here is to get out of our comfort zones in order to explore other countries, those that we know less or not at all 😲. Daring to venture into the unknown can simply mean going to a place you've never been before, even if it's only a half-hour drive away 😉. All new experiences stimulate the creation of new connections in our brain which are all new programs 👍. Our brain is bored with all our habits , it needs to be stimulated and nourished by novelty 🤩.

Thus, he will retain eternal youth 🕺💃...or almost 😆...and will have much better abilities to adapt to life's eventualities 🙃, however unexpected they may be 😉‼️ This week, let's be a little reckless 😅, let's venture into 🙃 Terra Incognita 🙃 singing 🎶 loud and clear ✨✨✨ MIAM la Vie ✨✨✨ ❗
