Tip n°31 : It's time to come back to work. Food for thought.

Hello everyone 👋, I am delighted 😃 to meet you again for the resumption of our letter exchanges ✍️. A few weeks ago, I was telling you about this famous bottle that could be half full or half empty, depending on the point of view adopted 👀. This way of seeing things is applicable for many discoveries and innovations, the latter of which can be either very useful 👍 or totally harmful 👎 depending on the use made of them. For a few decades our daily life has changed considerably with the arrival of the internet 🌐 and screens of all kinds 💻📱. This certainly has many advantages but … the medal 🏅 always has a reverse, a half-empty bottle of sorts.

This is a subject that is close to my heart, first of all because I had to discipline myself 🙄 for a better, reasoned and reasonable use of these interfaces. Then by the simple observation 👀 of my environment: at the restaurant, in the street, on the beach and even in the shops. Finally, by reading a book 📖, "the last message" by Nicolas Beuglet. Did you know that the IQ 🧠 of the western population has been decreasing since the mid-1990s ❓ There seems to be a link with the massive use of screens as well as with the duration of exposure to them, especially among the youngest. This is certainly not the only reason, but it is important and deserves our full attention 🧐.

I discovered in this author's book 📖 that 'for children aged 3 to 6, being in front of a screen in the morning before going to school or daycare multiplied the risk of being late. of language by 3.5' and that 'results of the same order were obtained in children from 6 to 18 years of age. The more time the participants in this study spent in front of a game, the TV or their smartphone, the more their verbal IQ decreased. In other words, the less vocabulary they acquired, the less they were able to grasp the statement of a simple problem. Future adults unable to express themselves correctly, to make themselves understood and to understand others’... The amazement is total 😮, mine in any case, when I learn that in the West, from the age of 2, our children spend almost 3 hours in front of a screen, that this duration increases to more than 4 hours for the 8 at 12 years old and almost 7 hours for 13 to 18 ‼️ Even if these results are to be verified and there are some contradictory studies, it still makes me think 🤔.

And now that this is said, let's certainly not get discouraged 🙃 and quickly move on to the positive side of this reflection 🙂. Is it necessary to specify beforehand that these services can be very useful and that the whole point is to master their use rather than it being the one controlling us 😉. Any change requires prior awareness 💭. Then comes the decision, the choice to act differently before actually taking action and adopting new habits. If this is not yet relevant for you, allow me some suggestions 😌: put aside the phone 📱 when you are at the restaurant, get ready in the morning before turning on your mobile 📱, check social networks 🌐 once a day (oops, quite a challenge that one ❓😜) or maybe even your emails 📧 when they're not professional, make a phone call ☎️ instead of having long text conversations 💬 (this is also valid for emails of course 😉) ... I'll let you decline these few ideas as you wish and, for your children, do the best because it's not always easy, that's for sure ❗

We can never celebrate enough the importance of real human interactions 🤝, real friendships 👭, real recreational games ♟️🎯🏓… the REAL LIFE experience 🤩. So yes, ✨✨✨ MIAM la Vie ✨✨✨ for real and forever ‼️ I'll meet you in 2 weeks to talk to you about a slightly lighter subject: food associations 😉. Until then be well 😌 and receive all my affection 🤗.
